Songs in the night with a heavenly scent
Bring His mercy and healing for that which is rent
A wooing melody that comes in the night
So warm and so comforting, and so full of light
Songs in the night when trials are deep
When your soul is weary and you cannot sleep
Or when temptations assails you and you’re nearly cast down
And deep sorrows invade the heart and keep you bound
And it seems He has forsaken you and you no longer belong
When it’s the darkest of the night, He then gives you a song
Yes, God in His love gives the sweetest and best
Giving songs in the night to bring peace, joy, and rest
When the mind is torn by fear
And the heart is rent by the loss of one dear
In His wisdom and love He will not deny
The “songs” in the night that sooth and satisfy
When peace of spirit has fled away
And in the bed of affliction you lay
Or when joy and contentment have taken flight
And comfort and compassion are not in sight
Yet His love abounds in that He gives “songs in the night”.
